Symptoms of rosacea may also present as flushing: small-medium pus-filled red lumps. These signs and symptoms can flare up for weeks or, in some peoples’ cases, for months and then appear to just go away. There is no cure for rosacea. Treatments and products aim to reduce the signs and symptoms. Treatment includes medications, laser therapies, and lifestyle modifications. The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of symptoms.
Surprisingly, the cause of rosacea is unknown, but it is said to be due to hereditary and environmental factors. Rosacea is not caused by poor hygiene.
Several factors can trigger flare-ups, including:
Complications
Over time, the oil glands (sebaceous glands) in your nose and sometimes your cheeks become enlarged, which results in a build-up of tissue on and around your nose. This is a condition called rhinophyma (rie-no-FIE-muh). This complication is much more common in men and develops slowly over a period of years.
Rosacea is a condition that you will live with permanently. It is nearly impossible to remove fully, but its visibility and symptoms can be reduced hugely with the correct skincare and adaption to your lifestyle and habits.
The most suitable treatment and products we offer for Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea (ETR) and Papulopustular (Acne) Rosacea is the:

Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea (ETR)
The most common type of rosacea is ETR.
The first symptoms tend to be facial redness or dilated blood vessels. This can then display as flushing on the cheeks, nose, and forehead. It can also appear on the scalp, neck, and chin.
Other symptoms such as tingling, dryness, swelling, and scales may be seen or felt.
If it is not managed, rosacea can cover larger areas of the skin and flare up during certain times of life and seasons.
Papulopustular (Acne) Rosacea
As with ETR acne rosacea which can cause facial redness, flushing and swelling; what makes Papulopustular Rosacea different is it mainly affects middle-aged women and may display as or cause the following symptoms:
These acne breakouts display mainly on the face and can be large and painful blemishes called pustules and papules. These develop deep below the surface of the skin. In more severe cases it can develop on the neck, scalp, shoulders, and chest and can present as very oily skin. dry and irritated patches on the skin that can become thick and scaly. These then turn into hard and rough patches called plaques.
Ocular Rosacea
As per the name, ocular rosacea affects the eyes and symptoms include:
Phymatous Rosacea
The most severe form of rosacea. The main symptom includes thickening of the skin, which leads to raised patches of the skin. In some cases, sufferers of this condition may develop a related condition called Rhinophyma. This is where they develop a bulbous nose. This type of rosacea is more likely to affect men and rhinophyma can usually be avoided by managing the initial condition.
Other symptoms include:
The skin regenerates on a 28-day cycle. So, in 4 weeks the cells of your skin move from the bottom of the epidermis to the surface of your skin. The epidermis slows the loss of moisture from the dermis (the lower layer). This dermis is made up of collagen and elastin. It’s important to keep it hydrated as this keeps your skin more elastic, healthier, and youthful. A proper skincare routine is essential to achieving and maintaining a healthy skin barrier.
SKINCARE PRODUCTS:
Over-the-counter skin care products have been designed to suit most of the population. They do this so not to affect the skin of the general population negatively. For this reason, the concentration of their active ingredients is relatively low and will give minimal effects on skin concerns such as acne, pigmentation, rosacea, and scarring.
Our products are made with more potent ingredients and can only be purchased or prescribed by myself (an advanced skin specialist) or Dr Shah (One of our clinic doctors). They have been developed and researched to the point that they have sufficient active ingredients to make changes in your skin. A higher amount of the active ingredient = better quality and results!
In addition, to having a higher active ingredient content, our products are made using the latest technology and can be adapted to your skin issues.
Over-the-counter products are designed to sit on the surface of the skin, whereas our products have been designed to penetrate the epidermis and affect deeper layers of the skin.
